Are you aged 10 - 12? Bored with all the usual online stuff?
Join Creative Briefs and Dyslexia Scotland for a fun workshop which will get you thinking creatively - you’ll be amazed at what you can do!
You’ll be joined by 15 other people your age who are dyslexic - as well as the lead tutor who also has dyslexia! A great chance to learn and share your awesome skills. Don’t be shy - you won’t be asked to do anything you don’t want to - but we think you’ll love it.
Information for parents/carers - please read carefully, especially the final paragraphs in bold
This workshop will be co-hosted by Creative Briefs and Dyslexia Scotland. It will run from 2pm - 4pm on 13 March on Zoom. There will be plenty of breaks and the key themes are fun and imagination - delivered in interesting, short design challenges.
To give you an idea of the workshop:
• Starter task: We will set a quick, creative drawing challenge while everybody logs on and sets up.
• Part 1: 'Wait? I can use my creativity in a real job?' We'll look at the design process used by real designers and use this to create our very own 'Mixed up Animals'. These animals may seem silly - but the young people will use skills that designers in the real world use and see how their imagination is a positive skill.
• Part 2: Creative thinker tasks. We'll set more creative challenges that embed these skills and show the young people how to celebrate their talents. We will be working like a design agency does with lots of drawing each step of the way.
• Part 3: Reflect on the amazing skills we all have & have strengthened in the session. How the design process can be used in other problem solving activities
The event is for 10 -12 year olds with dyslexia. When you book a place via Eventbrite (see below) you’ll be sent what you need for your young person to take part, including consent. We will send on a Zoom link the day before. Please make the booking using the name/email of an adult.
We do ask that parents are on hand in the room but not visibly present!
There are 15 places per workshop. Sorry, when it is fully booked we cannot offer any more places - but we will look at holding more events in the future. This event is being held on 13 and 27 March but children may only attend once.
We will make sure that the meeting is fully secure. For more information email [email protected]
